Project Description:
Jet Executive Center (JEC) needed to re-coat 2 containment areas of their aviation fuel tank farm. The coating needed to be a crack resistant system that would cure the cracking they were experiencing. Because JEC fuel tanks were on metal sled, system needed to be able to bond to metal & concrete avoiding the costly downtime to raise tanks.
Polyurea was chosen because of its proven history in the containment field. Unlike other systems, polyurea with its high elongation, repairs existing cracks and resists future cracking. And with its rapid setup and cure time, the JEC never experienced any downtime, saving them from any lost revenue.
The containment area and the tank sleds were water blasted to remove the loose & flaking paint. The cracks were repaired, a solvent free primer was applied and a required 80 mils of polyurea was applied with a slip resistant texture. D.E.P. inspection was passed and has every year without fail.
